Because science is ultimately a human enterprise, the Biofrontiers Institute is dedicated to increasing not only its diversity of scientific expertise, but also the diversity of cultural experience represented by its members.

As a part of our commitment, the IQ Biology program is one of the five interdisciplinary programs across CU that partners with the University’s Colorado Advantage Program.Diversity Preview_z692

Highlights of this cutting-edge program include:

  • Prospective graduate students from groups traditionally under-represented in STEM Disciplines (as defined by NSF) can apply for funds to attend this Colorado Advantage to pursue their interest in obtaining a Ph.D., perhaps in the IQ Biology Certificate Program and one of the participating departments.
    • Current students can volunteer to help with the preview weekend.
    • Faculty, especially those who run training grants where they would like to recruit a diverse student body, can volunteer to develop panels, give lab tours, and speak with the recruits during that weekend.
    • Departments, training grant applicants, and other organizations can support Colorado Advantage.
